It’s no secret that I’m not a big fan of Lagoon. I think it is incredibly overpriced. However, through the kids school, we got passes that got the kids in for almost half off, I got in free, including a ride pass. So, it seemed reasonable that we go yesterday. It rained on the way to Farmington, but we just hoped that would mean shorter lines. Happily, the parking lot was emptier than I’d ever seen it. What a good omen!
We purchased our tickets and entered that park. Caleb had his good friend, Joe, with him, as well as his dad’s cell phone. So they eagerly took off to conquer the park on their own. Dinah and I wandered along, riding whatever struck our fancy. The rain had stopped as we arrived, but just as we got on the HUGE ferris wheel it started up again, which meant that we got one slow trip around and then had to debark. It seems that the rain doesn’t agree with the ferris wheel brakes. We hid out under a tree, waiting for the rain to stop, which it did after about 5 minutes. We had brought three umbrellas with us—they were all in the car.
Dinah and I rode the Odysea, the Bat, the Jumping Dragon, the Ferris Wheel, the Paratrooper, and the Flying Aces.
For the first time that I can recall, I got a bit queasy on the Tilt-a-Whirl. I blamed it on eating chocolate on a mostly empty stomach. I sat while Dinah rode the Swings and the Carousel. Then we met Caleb and Joe for lunch.
I was pretty sure that a little protein and cucumbers would settle things nicely. When the kids were done eating, I was still a bit iffy, so I sent Dinah with the boys, with exact instructions to Caleb—“Keep Dinah safe.” I laid back in my seat and dosed off for a while. As I was getting out of the car, I got a text from Caleb, where was I? I told him I was on my way back into the park. The pretty soon I get a text—Dinah just rode the Cliffhanger.
Excuse me?!? Is that what I meant when I told him to keep his sister Safe? I made my way to the Cliff hanger, and the three of them called to me, they were all seated, ready to ride it a second time. Dinah was having a blast. She and I rode Colossus together,
and then the Screamer, the Skyride, and the Scrambler. Oddly, I got queasy on the Screamer and the Scrambler. I have always laughed at those who get sick on rides. Hmmm.. I guess I’ll be developing empathy.
Dinah and I finished off the Day on the Ladybug Bop, a very gentle version of the Rocket, which I don’t like. I’ve learned that I will do ANY roller coaster, but I don’t like “free fall”. Not attracted to the Rocket or the Samurai. I’ll do the Maliboomer in Disneyland under duress, but I’m pretty sure that my seat will be the one that actually flies off the top, never to be seen again!
The end of the day rain held off till we headed for the car. We drove through rain all the way to West Jordan. Happily, we had perfect weather all afternoon. It was a delightful day with my 2 kids and a friend!
